The driving force at the center of Inventors of America is a profound curiosity about what causes progress in the sciences and technologies.  Early in my career this curiosity became a calling.  Why do new scientific and technological ideas occur, and where do they come from?

This is important to all of us as this understanding of science and technology is a key component to economic and material progress.  How can anyone lead a business or teach future scientists and engineers without a thorough understanding of the "inspiration and perspiration cycle" required in successful inventing?
